First Post: Mothers

Hello! I wanted to start this a couple weeks back but didn't quite find the time. To start out with, I am going to post part of my Mother's Day present to my mom (of course). It's a little cheesy and not very spiritual, but I guess I want to show my appreciation for all that my mom has done for me by posting this.

AND it came to pass in the one thousandth nine hundredth and ninety-second year that the mother, being great with her seventh child, came up to the place of the midwives.
2  And behold, her pains were great and there were wailings and gnashing of teeth, nevertheless she gave birth to her second daughter and swaddled her in a baby’s blanket and laid her in a crib.
3  And they named the babe Alisha, for thus it was premeditated by the mother and her husband.
4  And behold, the child grew in intelligence and size. And some days the child was meek and obedient and cuddly and thus honored the mother.
5  Thus these days the mother called good days, and the mother saw that it was good.
6  But behold, there were many days in which the child became prideful and arrogant, causing all manner of disturbance and contending with her brethren and sister.
7  And these days the mother called not so good days, and she saw that it was bad.
8  And it came to pass in these days the mother was greatly troubled, and inquired of the Lord what should be done.
9  And the Lord said unto the mother, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord thy God is with the whithersoever thou goest.
10  Behold, thy children shall learn wisdom in me, and thou shalt teach them of my ways and commandments that they might return unto me and prove me herewith.
11  And the mother saw that it was done according to the Lord’s word.
AND now, it came to pass in the years that followed that her children grew in wisdom and truth strove to hold onto that which was right and good; yea, they had been taught by their mother, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them.
2  And when her children grew older they departed each their own ways, bearing children and pursuing careers except for Alisha, who clave unto her mother for she was not yet of age.
3  But behold, the day soon came for Alisha to prepare venture forth into the world of college, relying no more on her parents for nurturing and shelter.
4  So when it came time for parting, the mother said, Daughter, lovest thou me more than these? And she saith unter her, Yea, mother; thou knowest that I love thee. She saith unto her, Call me often.
5  She saith unto her again the second time, Alisha, my second daughter, lovest thou me? She saith unto her, Yea, mother; thou knowest that I love thee. She saith unto her, Call on me often.
6  She saith unto her a third time, Alisha, lovest thou me? Alisha was grieved because she said unto her the third time, Lovest thou me? And she said unto her, Mother, did thou not hear me? Thou knowest that I love thee. The mother said unto her, Come back and visit me.
7  And thus Alisha left for college, pondering these things in her heart.
8  And the mother wept.
9  Now behold, there were many occasions following this time that the family gathered all together and feasted and enjoyed one another’s presence.
10  But behold, Alisha was often missing from their midst due to the many things that she pursued. And her mother often called to talk but Alisha was usually too busy to converse much; And thus the mother was greatly grieved.
11  And verily, as time passed, Alisha began to be in want of her mother’s presence.
12  And she thought, I will arise and go to my mother, and will say unto her, Mother, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
13  And am no more worthy to be called thy daughter; make me as one of thy hired servants.
14  And she arose and came unto her mother. But when she was yet a great way off, her mother saw her, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on her neck, and kissed her.
15  And the mother said, bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
16  For this my daughter as dead, and is alive again; she was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
17  And thus saith Alisha, Mother, I did greatly wrong thee, for thou didst give me life and bread and I was slow to return unto thee. But thou art forgiving and I shall try to call thee more often.
18  And thus Alisha continued, calling on her mother often and glorifying her God for all the things her mother had taught her.

I am sure grateful for my mother and everything that she has done for me. She has taught me more than anyone else has in my life. I am sure blessed to be her daughter!
